Our Turn for Them
A Poem by Matthew DiMinno, March 1, 2014
They never say “No”
These soldiers
These brave souls
Who risk their lives
For others in need
Yet this often creates their own needs
Those who return wounded
Hurt in body and soul
Those who selflessly have given All
For the benefits of others
Are too often ignored
We are here to insure
That in their attempts to bring justice
They are not met with injustice
That their unbending attitude
For others redress
Is returned with gratitude
During their distress
So be generous and give back to those
Who for their help are now exposed
To illness, troubles and other woes
It’s our turn now to alleviate their sorrow
To give them help, provide a tomorrow
Thank them with kindness, give them some aid
That they know it’s for purpose their efforts were made
Heartfelt thanks to Matthew for reading this beautiful poem at our 2014 EGT event.
